CVT Applications Will Put Out More Torque Even Without Additional Timing. Custom Tuning Is Recommended.
MT Applications Should Have An Aftermarket Clutch Or Reduce Torque Output For Long Term Use.
Hardware:
For Our KTunerFlash applications our KTuner Flex Fuel Converter or a converter with a programmable voltage output must be used. .5v for 0% ethanol, 4.5v for 100% ethanol.
Software:
On platforms where the option needs to be enabled you'll find an enable checkbox in the Flex Fuel section. This may mention the input pin, or let you choose the input to use, depending on the platform.
CivicX/AccordX platforms use pin E54 - Secondary ECT Input.
P2185 and P0128 should be disabled in order to avoid codes related to the Secondary ECT Sensor.
Three base adjustment options are available for Flex Fuel control based on ethanol content (Ethanol %):
Fuel %: Adjusts fuel injector delivery quantity based on ethanol content. This is typically not adjusted from the default values shown.
Ign Adj %: This can be used to add a percentage of the value taken from the RPM vs MAP Ethanol Ignition Adjustment Map. For instance if the lookup from the map is 8 degrees of timing and you have an adjustments value of 50(%) at 50(%) ethanol in this table it will only add 4 degrees to the ignition map.
PSI Adj %: This can be used to add a percentage of the value taken from the RPM vs TPS Ethanol Boost Target Adjustment Map. For instance if the lookup from the map is 8 PSI and you have a value of 50(%) at 50(%) ethanol in this table it will only add 4PSI to the boost targets.
Ignition
The KTuner Flex Fuel Support may include a three dimensional table for ignition adjustment. Find this table in the main Tuning Map list as “Ethanol Ignition Adjustment”.
This map adds ignition timing to the base ignition table based on Manifold Pressure and RPM. This is particularly useful to add ignition timing only under high load and not under low load conditions (idle, cruise, etc).
Boost
The KTuner Flex Fuel Support includes a three dimensional table for boost adjustment. Find this table in the main Tuning Map list as “Ethanol Boost Target Adjustment”.
This map adds a percentage of boost to the final boost table based on TPS and RPM. This is particularly useful to add boost adjustments only under full or high throttle and not under light throttle situations.
