How to tune Vtec

Post by gonzo2023 »

hi, I am new to ktuner. I started my tune not that long ago and everything going well. the only problem that i am having is to understand the Vtec window.

lower disengage, lower engage , upper engage ,upper disengage ?

i just would like to know if i want to have my vtec to start at 4500 rpm and have it disengage at 5100, how can i do that in that window?

I was just wondering, is there any reason you want Vtec to kick in only between 4500-5100 rpm? I wanted mine to kick in at 3800rpm all the way to 6800 redline but I still can't figure out how to do it with the V2.

You want VTEC to disengage when you go below a certain RPM, which should be below the engagement RPM.

what do you mean by that? like should i set another different disengagement and engagement over what i am doing originally?

in order for me to set my vtec,my lower engage should be 4500 and lower disengage should be 4400 as in my upper engage should be 5100 and my upper disengage 5000?

You'll want to follow how Honda does it and have a 200 RPM gap between engage/disengage at the minimum.

so put lower engage 4500 and lower disengage 4300 and upper engage 5100 and upper disengage 4900?

That would work out, if that's the appropriate VTEC points for your engine setup. If you're not sure, you'll need a dyno.

I have a J35Z2 Engine and I dont see a VTEC Engagement Window option in my Ktuner V2 platform.

Where would I find this window? The guide doesnt show how to get to that specific window.

You don't have VTEC, so you don't have the options.
