New to tuners

I'm some one that had never used a tuner before it's been carbs in my past. I have a 18 civic 1.5 fun car. I'm looking at the k tuner v2. My questions are will I ever need a computer as I don't have one, only a smart phone for internet use can up dates go through a smart phone or not. Will i be able to make changes to maps as I change other parts. A tuner will be my first mod so I can adjust it when I do change other things. Thank you for your time and help.
