If you have a new model Civic that has Sensing capabilities, like Lane Keep Assist, you may have a CAN Gateway which will prevent a V2 unit from turning on when the vehicle turns on. This is because the CAN Gateway blocks messages behind the scenes from reaching the OBD port.
The V2 Firmware 1.0.1.16 has a CAN Gateway option on the main menu, where you can choose Yes or No to having a CAN Gateway which will put the unit into the proper sleep mode.
If you don't have the latest firmware updating is easy. Connect toyour V2 with the latest KTuner software, go to the Tuning Menu, and under V2 Special Commands you'll find Upgrade Firmware. This will ask you to update and update the firmware to the latest version.
